Feeling the EMA fever?

What happened when the cameras weren't watching?

Cuddling!

Hubby Jay-Z kept on cuddling his Beyoncé boo in the artist lounge after she had won her first award - he was so proud and it was so amazing to see these two amazing artists interact as man and woman, just simply in love.

Preparing the big moment!

When the cameras aren’t rolling during the commercial break, it’s highly entertaining to see what happens when performers  and presenters are waiting for and preparing their big moment.

Take Katy Perry, who reread her lines a couple of times from a giant, white paper that someone was holding up whilst her stylist kept on inspecting her diamond dress and the way it was –ermm- draped around her. She looked gorgeous to me but he wasn’t that easily pleased, nah-ah!

Dancing, wobbling, waving…nerves!

I had a major “aww!” moment when Pete Wentz had a backstage chat with Placebo and Tokio Hotel climbed the stage to kick off their song about a minute later. Singer Bill Kaulitz was standing far, far away from his other band members as he had to walk towards them during the performance. He just kind of stood there being cute & nervous, wobbling where he stood and making it look like a silly, little dance. Genuine as he is, he didn’t hesitate to greet his ecstatic –as ever!- fans with some shy smiles, funny waves and more wobbling. I swear I just wanted to adopt him, he looked like a puppy dog, major squeals!

Knocking over camera guys!

Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong wanted to prove he was still punk and leaped off the stage and clearly, not all things about the stunt were that well planned! Five bodyguards rushed to save him from getting swallowed by the greedy hands of the crowd whilst he made his way to the artist lounge where he –accidentally- knocked down a cameraman who had rushed to the scene to show the viewers at home what was going on. Armstrong kept on rocking whilst jumping on every fancy table and chair he bumped into  - never dropping one note whilst playing his guitar. Luckily, the poor camera  guy was able to shake the pain off and catch up with Billie Joe to film all this, but he must have felt slightly dizzy!

Swearing?!

More Billie…Green Day opened the show with their dazzling guitar sound and crazy rock attitude and to make sure everyone was going to be all wild and enthusiastic during the performance,  the hyper singer had ‘motivated’ the crowd with some “C’mon motha******” and “I wanna f****** hear you” ! Now that is swearing indeed but I forgive him, it was actually kinda cute!

Stars being star struck!

Pete Wentz was so overwhelmed by having met Bono and even touching him backstage, that he had to take the time to catch his breath and he needed a moment to sit down before he could continue his backstage interviews. I want to adopt Pete too! Please Ashlee?

Ooh and Georg Listing from Tokio Hotel seems to love David Hasselhoff as well…like, really!

The wonder I call...David Hasselhoff!

Speaking of the Hoff…it took some time to make him look presentable and classy! (did that work out anyway?) Two full hours in make-up for a man is who needs to look naturally good is…well…kinda long! (If we leave eyeliner/eyeshadow/Pete Wentz out of this, of course! Otherwise two hours is ok!) Damn, boo must have slept booze..erm…bad!

+ it took a while before David found the stage to present his award. It looked like was doing a walz, very classy Dave!

Girltalk!

Beyoncé and Shakira are the cutest ever, they’re like best friends! Constantly chatting, sitting next to each other, following each other around,…What a divalicious pair!

Marriage proposals?!

You wouldn’t believe how many fiancées Jody Brenner and Jesse Metcalfe could’ve had by now…phew!

Big dresses!

Dazzling singer Leona Lewis had to literally drag herself on and off stage! That dress was soooo heavy but looked stunning on her.

Golden performances

Best performance:

The fabulous and ever so gorgeous Beyoncé!

This lady captivated the crowd with her sugarcoated voice, delicate dance routines and warmhearted looks and background. The thing I love about this woman is her strength and how well she can carry it out to other women out there; It seemed like all of us ladies were feeling bootylicious all of the sudden. The loveliest thing was the moment the performance was over and she took  the time to take in the applause and the appreciation from the crowd and her fans. Her smile was a sincere one and the cutest thing -her cheeks actually flushed pink!

A shy diva? Kinda liking it!

Most memorable performance:

Tokio Hotel, the boys who were on fire, baby!

The theme that spun a perfect web around the show was definately the fact that 20 years ago, the Berlin

wall came down, which created a moment in history that would bring millions of citizens hope and freedom again.

This important anniversary was sure to be mentioned before the cheeky, young rockers from Tokio Hotel climbed the stage. With a perfectly fitting song titled 'World behind my wall', they couldn't have made Germany more proud. Rocking their homecountry whilst the videoscreens portrayed people climbing over a wall until it finally came down, they gained the endless respect and appreciation of the audience.

They literally set the stage on fire and with this, they burned down every prejudice ever made about them - these talented boys are definately worth the award they won for 'Best Group'!

Also… Singer Bill Kaulitz swung his arm in the air whilst performing and showed off one of his tattoos which says 'Freiheit 89'. Now, the real meaning to this is the fact he was born in 1989 & he is someone who worships freedom - but I actually thought it was a funny coincidence that the Berlin wall came down in 1989 as well, which brought freedom amongst so many.

Absolute highlight of the evening:

The final and very royal performance coming from rock god Bono and the King of the Urban Scene Jay-Z!

One word, three syllables: A-MA-ZING

What can I say? Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend the U2 show since I was inside of the O2 World Arena during the entire show, but thank the heavens for live broadcasting inside of the venue! The energy spat of the screens that were plastered above the EMA stage and even for just a considerate moment, all voices went numb and eyes were torn to the spectacular show in the approving shadows of the  Brandenburger Tor. That moment was what music is all about. An ecstatic crowd, the thrill of the cameras registering every move, musicians who played their instruments as if they were in a passionate love game and on top of all that two men who are practically married to the music scene.

Hugs and smiles, notes and hope. Bono and Jay shared it all. Amen!

Enkele uurtjes voor de show!

Dag schattebollen!

Suppigeil!

En dan nu...op naar de show!

Lees hier binnenkort het verslag!

Berlijnse groetjes en bollen,

xoxo

In het sterrenhotel gisterenavond...

  • Butler: You can place your shoes in the shoe rack!
  • Ik: Ok! *vind het vreemd maar glimlacht vriendelijk, hoopt ondertussen dat ze gelijkkleurige sokken aangetrokken heeft die morgen*
  • Butler: *met hoongelach* that was a joke!
